Soratan

Product

Soratan is the name of artificial soil commercialized in the form of high-performance biochar utilizing high-performance soil technology, which can be used in agriculture.

Soratan

Product Details

When applied wilth Soratan, it is possible to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1 ton per 10 a (per rice paddy).

By using space charcoal instead of arctic spraying at the time of switching cropping, the farmland can be converted to high quality farmland in about one month.

Anticipated Benefits

The following benefits can be obtained by installing Soratan.

- Reduction of chemical fertilizers (e.g., 50% reduction in komatsuna)

- Reduction of frequency of compost application (from annually to once every 3 years)

- Improvemeent in land utilization rate (mitigation of continuous crop failure → 1.5 times higher than before)

- Increase in added value and sales through environmental contributions

- Proxy acquisition and sale of carbon credits based on the amount of Soratan applied, and partial return of profits from the sale of the carbon credits

Differences from conventional biochar

Biochar in general is highly alkaline, and the upper limit of application is about 2% of the cultivated soil, especially for land that should be improved, such as rice paddy fields and immature soil. Spraying more than this 2% amount will cause the soil acidity preferred by crops (pH 5.5~6.5) to be exceeded, resulting in lower yields. In general, it is difficult to accurately spray large areas of farmland with a coverage of no more than 2%, and in some cases, for example, uneven spraying can result in reduced yields. In contrast, the acidity of Soratan itself is close to neutral. Therefore, no matter how much is applied, the soil acidity level that plants prefer can be maintained. It is unlikely to cause problems even if there is uneven spraying. Experimental results from our company and cooperating farmers have also confirmed the effect of improved yields.
